The people of the temple culture were just as intelligent as we are today. Once they got settled on the islands, life was relatively comfortable. They did not have to worry too much about finding food; there were no predators and the weather was not extreme. Without serious challenges of daily survival, they were able to spend time observing and to use their energies creatively. The construction of the temples demonstrates that they developed sophisticated engineering and planning skills. There may have been other factors
that scientists and researchers are now studying. Whether they
knew it or not, the people who spent time in the limestone chambers
exposed to certain sound frequencies may have been influencing the way
their brains processed information. (see article:
archaeoacoustics.)
